Mu Yao's surname, 慕 (mu), means "admiration". Her first name, 瑶 (yao), means "precious stone". It often refers to jade or nacre specifically. Her full name means "a covetable gemstone".

She is described to be lively. She uses magnifying glasses to burn various things, such as leaves. She also enjoys rollerblading, and loves torturing people. She hates stingy people and long-winded people.

Mu Yao was released on the software NIAONiao, and is one of the 6 NIAONiao vocals created by DSoundSoft. Due to this, she's considered to be a "default vocal", but needs to be downloaded separately.
Despite having an AISingers voicebank, you can only use her NIAONiao version in the NIAONiao for AISingers editor.
